Weekly Update + Training

Weekly update

And so another season has come and gone! A big thanks to all club members who made the season one of the most successful to date. Club events are now taking a break and will restart in October with the winter schedule and more details on this over the coming month. The TI calendar does continue and we wish every success to club members taking part in the remaining events.

Try a tri 2

A bright but slightly breezy morning for the second edition of “try a tri”, where over 50 entrants had taken up the challenge. An eager set of participants arrived bright and early for the start of the first wave at 9am and the rain stayed off for the entire event. We hope that the experience was enjoyed by all and some will consider using this as a stepping stone to joining the club and taking part in a full triathlon event. From all at Nenagh Triathlon Club we thank you for taking the time and effort to support this event and hope to see you at similar events in the future. Well done to all!! Finally such events cannot take place without the support and effort from club members so to all who came down this morning to marshal and support the racing Committee thank you sincerely.

A brave crew of 13 made their way to Youghalarra for the end of year swim. A number of brave souls took part in the 3k event and we had a number of new members who completed the 2.5k swim to Garrykennedy. Well done all!

Club AGM

The club AGM was held in Garrykennedy following the end of year swim and the committee thank all members who took the time to attend this meeting. The year from both triathlon and cycling perspective was reviewed and plans for the current season discussed briefly.

The committee for the 2017 season was then elected and sees a number of new faces and a new position for the coming year. Thank you to outgoing committee members Keith, Maeve, and Martin for their contributions during the year.

Chairperson: Paul Scully

Secretary: Mary Donnellan

Treasurer: John Meagher

PRO: Cliodhna McGrath

Club Development Officer: Ronan O’ Driscoll

As a follow-on to issues raised during the AGM we intend to have a triathlon specific meeting towards the end of September in order to plan for the current season.

The 2016 Club committee thank all club members for their help and assistance during the year with the many club races and events that took place. Such events are only a success based on member participation and we hope to see more of the same in the coming year. Thank you!!!

Weekly training

Formal training has finished for the season and will resume with the winter schedule in October. There will be a number of informal sessions continuing during the month so keep an eye on the website and Viber group for updates. The Monday run session will continue during the month and the 2 morning swim sessions will also continue although at a much easier level.
