Weekend Cycling

Looks like sunshine and showers for the weekend. The high temps mean it shouldn’t be too bad for cycling. All eyes this week are on the Wicklow 200. We have a big group heading up there on the Sunday. Denis Allen is off representing Munster in Scotland and we all wish him the best of luck at that. Hopefully we will have a few racing at races in Tuam and Newbridge this weekend too.

Meet: at 9:00 at the hotel.

Route: with the Wicklow 200 coming up on Sunday we will keep this spin close to home so people can turn off early if needs be. It’s a flat route with a hill top finish at the end. Depending on numbers, we hop to have two groups on the road and the racing group will go up Killeen as well so as to give a sizable head start to Group 1.

Training: meet at 7:30 at Tescos. We will be doing the extended lake route. Depending on numbers and weather we might head to Roscrea first and roll from there to Scariff. Sounds delightful!

Racing: a few from the club are either heading to Tuam or Newbridge this weekend. Check out Viber for more info on Saturday evening. Both races have A1/A2, A3 and A4 races.

Sportive: Wicklow 200 – John Gleeson is back in charge of the Sportive group. We need a wily gran fondo vet in charge of this one. Kenneth just wasn’t up to the task. Think there might still be places left if anyone is interested in tagging along. Best of luck to everyone that takes on this tough challenge. The Sportive takes you over 7 or 8 big climbs in the Wicklow Mountains. Perfect training for La Marmotte.
