Weekend Cycling

We have a big weekend of cycling action coming up. The second round of the Winter Warrior takes place, so if you fancy getting a good / fast workout in, you are more than welcome to join us – the more the merrier. We will follow that up with the usual lake cycle on Sunday. The legs are bound to be pretty tired after all that, but that is what January is for. It’s time to push it a little.

Club Gear – has been delivered. Pay and collect your gear at the race on Saturday or at the lake cycle on Sunday. Please don’t have us waiting too long to offload the gear. Kenneth is the man to seek out. If you ordered club gear – send Kenneth a quick text to remind him which order was yours and to make sure he has it all ready to go in a bag for you on Saturday or Sunday. This will help a lot as it was a big order.

Saturday cycle – Winter Warrior 2

Time: 9:00 at the hotel for a warm-up. WW2 begins at 10:15 in Nenagh (Lisboney ind estate). If it’s a frosty morning you are better off jumping on the turbo for the warm-up until the first clears closer to 10.

Route: this round of the Winter Warrior is a little longer than the first round (60km). We will be starting in Nenagh and heading out to Roscrea and back to the finish in Nenagh. We hope to have 4 groups on the road. If you want to go fast go in a faster bunch if you want to take it easy go in an easier bunch.

  • Lisboney hill – we ask that each of the 4 bunches try to keep their bunch together going up this long drag. I know it’s not much of a hill but it is very early in the cycle and might catch out some people who take a while to warm-up.
  • Handicap: The handicaps for the first race worked pretty well and they were – 0, 8, 11, 14. This route is 10km longer so the revised handicaps will be – 0, 9, 13, 17. This means that last group won’t be pulling out till after 10:30.
  • Normal rules of the road apply – this is just a club cycle so there are no marshals stopping traffic. We will have a car following behind for anyone that wants to put gear / spare wheels in it.
  • It’s just a bit of fun, but use it to experiment. Try and get the most out of it.

Sunday Cycle

Time: 8:00 at Tescos

Route: we will be going around the lake the long way. Two roll over sessions plus a coffee stop in Scariff.
