The weather is looking great for another big weekend of cycling. We have two cycles to choose from with a Saturday cycle that is more beginner friendly and a Sunday cycle that is specifically for more advanced cyclists.
Junior Cycle: none this Saturday – older juniors should attend the senior cycle at 9:00am.
Time: 9:00am (8:00am for Rás cyclists) – make sure to arrive on time. The bunch will be gone by 9:05am. Beginner group leaves at 9:00am.
Start from: Abbey Court Hotel
The route for this will be the loop + one hill. For those cyclists that are doing two loops, your bunch will detour over to Seaníns as you enter Toomevara on the second loop. The hill in question is Seáníns. The finish of the interval session is on the top of the hill so you can take it handy back to Toomevara and it’s straight back to Nenagh from there.
** Very important: the speeds are going to be controlled a lot more this week. Anyone looking to drive it on and have the rest of your bunch struggling and eventually dropping out is better off going out by themselves. “I didn’t know” is not an excuse any more for our experienced cyclists. Think of others. The workout is tough enough already.
The group you are in will likely break up a little on the final climb. This is to be expected because of the big difference in ability levels. However, we are not racing the hill. A good, but steady pace is to be kept and people can regroup on the descent and cool down back to Nenagh. Try to have as many of your bunch finish the complete session as possible.
Distance: is a little shorter this Saturday, but the inclusion of a decent size hill should make things tough enough.
Start from: Tescos
This advanced level cycle is heading down towards Tipperary town and the Glen of Aherlow. This will be a long distance cycle with some extended interval sessions thrown in. There will be a 10km short cut for those cyclists that are worried about the intervals.
