There is another tough weekend of cycling ahead. Rás Mumhan has already started for our Rás lads. There is another race on Sunday and we have the usual training spins.
If you fancy something different – the tri club are hosting a time trial tomorrow at 9:00am from the Abbey Court Hotel. They also have other training sessions that might interest you. Take a look at their training day plan.
Seniors: meet at 9:00 at the hotel
Route: we are going to do the Broadford route tomorrow. The group will head from Nenagh straight onto the N7 to Limerick. The split will occur on the Birdhill ramp. Turn at Daly’s Cross. If racing on Sunday, take it a little bit easier!
Training: meet at 8:00am at Tescos. Route will be chosen that morning.
Racing: we hope to see a big crowd heading up to Rás an Laois. It is a good race for scoring!
Rás Mumhan update: stage 1
The five lads have just finished stage 1 of Rás Mumhan. It was a terribly hard day on the saddle. The lads are not expecting much from this other than to just hang on in there. That is exactly what they did. Everyone made the cut off time so they survive for another day. Shane finished highest for the club. He finished in the main bunch about 1 minute down on a break of 9 riders. Next in were Mike and Kenneth in a large second group. They were closely followed home by Gary and Dan in the 3rd group on the road. The gale force winds played havoc in the bunch and the crosswinds were causing a lot of damage; at least the rain held off. Tomorrow is going to be a much hillier day and with rain expected it will be a very tough test. The lads are aiming low – just get around alive!
