Weekend Cycling

Last weekend we had huge numbers of members out on their bikes. The weather was cold but dry for once. This weekend we are hoping for more of the same. If you haven’t been out with us in a while then make sure to join us. For beginners and improvers we have our novice cycle on Saturday and for our more experienced and racing cyclists we have the senior cycles on both Saturday and Sunday. The weather is going to be sunny but it will also be a bit on the chilly side so wrap up!

To keep up to date with the club – like us on Facebook and join our Viber group.

Insurance – you need either Cycling Ireland insurance or Triathlon Ireland insurance to cycle with the club. There are a range of insurance options available depending on your intentions for the year. Make it your business to sort out your insurance this week. Thanks.

Saturday:

Novice cycle: now starts at 10:00am at the hotel. The pace of this cycle is suitable for beginners and is controlled. It is a great way to get used to cycling in a bunch. If you plan on doing a triathlon in 2016 then this session is a ‘must do’ session for you. Spread the word about this cycle and bring a friend!

Senior Spin: we abandoned pur Broadford spin not so long ago so we might as well give it another go. We head from Nenagh to O’Brien’s Bridge and then on to Broadford, Tuamgraney, Killaloe, Portroe and back to Nenagh. The first interval will start at Birdhill and finish in Broadford. The next interval goes from Tuamgraney to Killaloe. The rás team will also roll from Killaloe and take a slight detour finishing on the top of Coum.

If the roads are a little icy we will be changing the route and sticking to the main roads – with the old loop course between Moneygall and Nenagh looking the most likely call.

Sunday: this is an advanced cycle and is not suitable for beginners and improvers (experienced cyclists only). Again it is supposed to be sunny but the frosty conditions will determine the start time. We plan on being on the road at 8:00am at Tescos and we will be heading around the lake again, with some tough race pace efforts thrown in. We will make a final call on Saturday as to what time it will start.
