The weather on the day was a little windy as we were walking down from registration but as we got closer to transition the wind was alot lighter. The swim was split into 3 waves for the main event. Once we turned for home in the swim we had a bit of a head wind but nothing major. Darren was fourth out of the water but after a great transition he was first out on the bike and held his lead from then on.
Glad to be back on dry land the bike course which was nice, had a few hills but nothing major. The road surface was good and had a strong enough headwind until the 12 km mark then it was a tail wind all the way back to transition. Once we got back the run route was the first 2.5km of the bike route then turn for home to the finish line.
I must say the event was very well organised and there were loads of marshals on the bike and run route. Very well done to Predator Tri club for an excellent event. My goal for the event was to surrive the swim and finish.
Darren won the event in a time of 59.50, Eoin O’Donoghue (20th overall ), Dean Creaven ( 127th overall) Michael Buckley (263 rd overall) & Eoin Woolley DNF (punture on the bike route)
Also we had Mary Duggan and Carmel Finn running in the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Dublin on Sunday. Super runs by both women and 2 PBs. Mary ran a super 2.02.39 with Carmel just on her heels in a time of 2.04.02.
And welcome to Dean Creavan, he is our new Tri Club Junior.
