Run Series – 4/4

The final week of this this years run series was yet again a bit on the cold and windy side but on the course the times were the hottest yet. The beat the clock format brought the best times of this years series with the majority of runners within 10 seconds of their predicted time and a number of runners very close to breaking the 20min barrier overall! The top of the leaderboard for the final week was Barry Creamer who was within 2 secs of the predicted time.

Audrey McNamara 3k 20:50 16:25 4:25

A big thanks to the Eagle who was on hand at the line to get the times on the night!

This was the last in the run series for this year so a big thanks to all who made the effort to attend over the 4 weeks.

Next week we have the end of year Masters gala in the leisure centre at 8pm so if you fancy a final sprint in the pool then come on down.

After that we will be making the journey back out to Dromineer for the start of the Dromineer series, so hopefully over the coming weeks we get a bit of hotter weather to get the lake into a swimming condition!!!

Time Trial Series – 4/4

The final round in this years TT league and we again had a blustery wind and wet conditions to deal with, but we still managed to get a couple of lads to finally go out on the big course…..although by the end probably would have been better on the 20k one!!

Paul Scully 36k 67:10
Timmy Kelly 36k 71:10

Tom Hogan 20k 42:50

That was the last week of the time trial series and thanks to everyone who made the effort to get on the course over the 4 weeks.

Also, a big thanks to Johnny Meagher who has single handedly sorted out the rest of us with times for this years series.

Next up on the cycling front we are looking to arrange a group rolling over session to cover the Olympic distance cycle (40k)……we will give further info on this later in the week so keep an eye on the club bulletins for more!!!!

Summer Training – Week 4

It feels like they have only started but already the time trial and run series for this year are coming to an end. We hope that those who made the effort to attend these sessions have benefited from the short, sharp intense work and hopefully it will stand as a good marker to progress made….while for those who did not come out as yet, well there is one more week to get out and set a PB on the bike and run courses!

Joey Hannon 2018

A number of club members made the short trip over to Limerick for the ever popular and multi-distance Joey Hannon Triathlon. Well done to all members who took part! Darren Dunne (2.00), Eoin Woolley (2.17), Seamus Duggan (2.31), Ramon Rodriguez (2.49) , Ciara Cairns (2.49).

Ballinree 5k 2018

The weather was again good for the annual Ballinree 5k and so with that a good turn out from the club. The club had all of the first three in the male event with Gary Scully taking the honours followed closely by David Sheahan and Andrew McLoughlin, while Charlotte Jones won the female event on the day so good results for the club all round. Also taking part were Paul Scully, Eddie Tucker, John Meagher, John Manley, Mike O’Keeffe. A good feed afterwards and all left happy!

Masters End of Season Gala

A reminder that the end of Masters training for the season is fast approaching and as is custom there will be an end of season gala at the final evening session on Wednesday 9th of May at 8pm.
As ever we would hope that this will get good support from the Tri club on the night so keep this date free in your diary!!! (The run series finishes the week before so that cannot be used as an excuse!!!).

The time-trial league has one more week to run from the Leisure Centre at 6.30pm on Tuesday. This will follow the North Tipp Sprint route and has 3 turn off options 10k / 20k / 36k…so last chance saloon to get a time on the board! Cost of entry is free to all members.

Summer Training – Week 2

Another club weeks comes and goes….

A big week for the club has come and gone, and this years version of club week has finished, culminating with the North Tipp sprint on Saturday morning. However, the show must go on and with the time-trial and run series up and running we have plenty of sessions to get over the club week hangover!!!

North Tipp Sprint 2018

Well done to all club members who took part in this years event and in particular to Darren Dunne who again won the overall male event, and also to Ciara Cairns, who won her age category. Members taking part on the day included: Joe Gleeson, Seamus Duggan, Odie O’Driscoll, Timmy Kelly, Madeline Cleary, and Ger Carey.

As ever this event cannot take place without the work of the committee in the run up and from all club members who help out on the course on the day, so a big thanks to all!

Next up for the club is the upcoming Try a tri / Try a sprint in association with Nenagh Lions club on Saturday June 9th, quickly followed by our own Lough Derg Sprint / try a tri on June 16th so keep the dates free in your diary!

Killea 10mile / 5k

Not happy with spending the weekend running one of the first triathlons on the TI calendar, an eager collective made their way over to outside Templemore to take part in this years Killea event on Sunday. Strong winds, heavy showers and an undulating course made this a challenging event for all. Well done to all club members who took part and in particular to David Sheahan, who won the 5k event and to Gary Scully who was second in the 10 miler. Other club members taking part in the 10 mile included: Alan Kelly, Eddie Tucker, John Meagher, Eddie O’Meara, Barry Creamer, Mike O’Keeffe and Mary Duggan, while Paul Scully waddled around the 5k course.

This event was a perfect practice run for the upcoming half marathon at the Great Limerick run so the training will continue for this over the coming weeks.

Time trial league

The time-trial league is up and running so we will have the second instalment of four from the Leisure Centre at 6.30pm on Tuesday. This will follow the North Tipp Sprint route and has 3 turn off options 10k / 20k / 36k so has something to offer all level of fitness. The 10k / 20k routes are also the ones being used for the upcoming “Try a tri” event in June and so is open to all who wish to get a chance to practice the cycle leg. Cost of entry is free.

Run Series

This years Run series is up and running and we have another 3 weeks left on the usual courses, taking place at 7pm from Nenagh College. The run has the usual €2 entry and with all money taken in given out on the night to the various winners!!!!

This is the ideal starting point for anyone wishing to enter the world of triathlon so if you know anyone who wants to give it a go well get them up to this run on Wednesday!
