Nenagh CC Updates

nenagh-cc-logoJudging by how tired my legs are, it is safe to say that last week was a tough one. The high intensity turbo on Tuesdays are hurting the legs and when you combine that with a tough Winter Warrior on Saturday and a 130km cycle on Sunday, it’s safe to say we all deserve a rest on Monday; well….everyone bar Pretty Boy who has missed the whole week and has fallen so far behind now he is probably better off giving up altogether and going back playing rugby (can anyone imagine Will playing rugby?!). Next week should be a bit easier as we take a break from the WW series but try to get out on the bike as much as possible all the same.

  • Monday – Circuit training – 7:00 at the GAA complex – 6 more weeks of  strength building
  • Tuesday – Turbo training – 6:00 – 8:00 GAA complex – focus on sprints
  • Saturday – 9:00 at the hotel – usual club spin with 3 groups.
  • Sunday – club cycle – 8:00 at Tescos (last week of the extended route before we lengthen it again)

Sunday Cycle: there was a smaller crowd than usual out this morning. Clearly the race from the day before had burnt the legs off half the club. There were however 11 hardy bucks ready for road at 8:00. The temps were still low this morning but it turned out to be a lovely day on the bike. The hour of power didn’t live up to its name with nobody in the mood to push it on bar the Hurricane who was still blowing strong after yesterday’s victory. The usual roll over session from Killaloe – Daly’s Cross – Nenagh was also abandoned as the bunch decided on taking it easy on this stretch for once. No point pushing ourselves deep into the red after yesterday’s punishing ride. There will be plenty of punishing days in the not so distant future. Butt of the jokes today was Eoin Woolley. This was well deserved after Eoin betrayed group 4 yesterday in helping group 3 to a convincing win.

Racing Team Photo: With the racing season almost upon us we are looking to take a group photo of everyone that is planning on racing for the club in 2017. We will need to be in full gear and all beer bellies need to be well hidden. This will take place sometime over the next 3 weeks when we can find a time and place that suits everyone to meet up. Professional male model, Keith Butler, will be in charge of the photo shoot.

Club Gear: has been delivered. Most people have collected and paid already so thanks for that. You will get another opportunity to collect and pay at the Tuesday turbo session.

CI membership: your 2016 license does not now cover you to go on club spins. Make sure you have renewed your license for 2017. Click to renew

La Marmotte: we have made quite a bit of progress on the organisational side of this. Accommodation is now booked. There will be extra rooms/beds in the accommodation for anyone that wants to just tag along and go on some nice leisurely spins over there. Bike transport should be organised early this week – we hope to subsidise this with proceeds from the Summer League. Once bike transport is booked, we will be looking at booking flights by the end of the week. Most people will be going from Tuesday to Tuesday but there will also be a smaller group heading over from Thursday to Tuesday. Pick whatever option suits you best.
