This week sees the start of the Junior Tour. Denis Allen will be on the start line for this race in the Munster colours. We wish him all the best. Hopefully Denis can keep us updated with how things are going each day. Munster racing returns with an event down in Killorglin so make yourselves available for that. There are also the usual training sessions for everyone to enjoy.
- Tuesday – Tri club hill climb TT (Dolla climb) or Limerick Summer League
- Wednesday – TT option available at the tri club’s Dromineer event starts at 7:00pm.
- Thursday – Nenagh Summer League
- Saturday – club training at 9:00 at the hotel
- Sunday – club training at 8:00 from Tescos. Racing – Killorglin GP.
Junior Tour – best viewing day
If club members are looking to head over to Clare to support Denis the most suitable midweek day is probably Wednesday as the tour will be passing through Killaloe and Ogonnolloe. Might be a good viewing point on top of Ogonnolloe hill.
The tour kicks off tomorrow with a TT in Ennis and finishes on Sunday. Best of luck Denis!!!
Lough Derg Sprint – marshaling: fair play to everyone from the cycling club that gave up their time for this. There were a lot of us there and the whole thing went smoothly. We know its not easy to give up your time like this and we also realise that we have been asking a lot from our members this year in comparison to other years, but it is all very much appreciated and it will make the club stronger in the future. In the words of JFK – Ask not what your club can do for you, but what you can do for your club.
Weekend racing – this weekend was a quiet one for racing. There wasn’t much on and in the end I think we had only two lads competing. Daniel Yon Hin was due to take a break from the Gaeltacht to go to a criterium in Mayo, but I am not sure how that plan worked out. So possibly it was only Brian O’Neill in racing action!
Moynalty GP, Cavan: Brian O’Neill has inlaws in Cavan so he was out to impress at the A4 race. Brian had this to say: “Top 15/20. Big bunch but spit on the first climb and again on the second. Happy I stayed with the bunch. About 5 crashes! Last 300 ms to the line had a section of ramps. Very tough! Happy to be home safe.”
