Junior Cycling Update

Nenagh Cycling ClubFirst Mid Week Training: starts Thursday, Feb 20th.
This training session will be from 4:30 – 5:30pm. We can’t have it any later as it will be getting dark. We hope to have a group out on the road, this session unfortunately only suits the older kids (14+) as we will be on a public road and safety becomes an issue. There is training on Saturday for the younger cyclists. The weekend training sessions don’t suit some people so hopefully a mid-week one will suit better.

Next Weekend Training Day: Saturday, Feb 22nd.
This training session will be from 3:30pm – 5:00pm.

Membership: to cycle with our club you need to be covered by insurance. Therefore, our juniors need to join Cycling Ireland. The cost of joining Cycling Ireland for juniors is very cheap. It’s €5 for cyclists up to u/14, €35 for u/16 and €50 for juniors, u/18. Download the form below, fill it out and return to Gary Scully at training. He will take care of the rest.

Duathlon: Saturday, Feb 15th: Some of our (older) junior cyclists might be interested in our upcoming Dromineer Duathlon which is taking place this Saturday. A duathlon involves running and cycling but if you don’t want to do the run then we can just time you doing the 19km cycle or we might be able to get some lads to do the run for you. This 19km time trial would be great training and a tough test. It will show you how well you are going and give you a target to beat at the next duathlon. The cost is free. More details will be on the website during the week. Try to make it if you can.

Junior Club Gear: if you plan on doing some junior racing for our club this year then you will need to buy a club jersey. The cost of this is a very reasonable €25. Get in contact with Gary Scully (086) 3165642 to sort this out. Even if you don’t plan on racing, it is well worth buying.

Old Bikes: the club are currently trying to source cheap racing bikes for our juniors. If any of our senior members have an old bike lying around that they want to sell then let one of the committee members know. We would also appreciate any old gear / cycling shoes / helmets that you want to get rid of.
