Eoin Sheehan is taking on this Ironman challenge in Copenhagen, Denmark on Sun, Aug 18th. This will be Eoin’s second Ironman in as many years. The club would like to wish Eoin the best of luck. Eoin has prepared well for this. He averaged 13 hours a week over the winter and upped that to roughly 20 hours per week in the summer. He has been consistent throughout the year with his training so hopefully he sees the benefits come race day.
Eoin is hoping to dip under the 12 hour mark for this race. What are his tactics you might ask? According to the man himself, he is “going to race to heart rate – approximately 155bph on the bike with a goal of 5.40 to 6:00 – keep cadence high and take it easy for first 50kph. Swim – going to take it easy and just go with the flow and see what happens. Run is going to be 160 bpm ave with a 4 hour aim but going to stick to heart rate”.

Hopefully Eoin will write up a report for us after the race! Best of luck from everyone in the club.
