Improving your running

With the Nenagh Run Fest coming up in July, the Nenagh Triathlon Club want to help you improve your run fitness for the big event. Here are a few ways to help improve your running:

  • Come train with us!

Running with a group can really help your motivation. We have two running sessions that might interest you:

Fridays: we are starting a Friday evening run at 6:15pm from the CBS to help people prepare for this race. You don’t need to be a member of the club to attend (although membership of the club is free anyway). We will warm-up in the CBS grounds before heading out on the roads to cover various distances. Some people might do 5km, 8km, 10km or even 16km. Use this training session to build up your fitness for the Nenagh Run Fest. Each week you turn up you will hopefully be able to run a little bit further.

Mondays: there is a track running session in the CBS at 6:15pm. This session will help you to run faster. It involves interval training. It is more intense than the Friday session but you just do what you can and leave it at that.

  • Target other races

Participating in races is also great for motivation and it gives you a goal to aim for. There are a number of running events taking place in town over the next few weeks that you can aim for.

Nenagh 5km Run Series: this will be a weekly run that takes place on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm. There will be 3 of these races starting on June 25th and continuing each Wednesday up until the week before the Nenagh Run Fest. There will be 6 of these races in total with the remaining 3 taking place after the Nenagh Run Fest.

The Blues 10km Run: Éire Óg are organising a 10km run in town on Sunday, June 15th. This race takes you through the streets of Nenagh and is well worth supporting. Check out the poster for details.
