The annual End of Year Cycle takes place in just under 3 weeks time. This will be our final cycle training session of the season so we expect all club members to come out and support this – seniors and juniors included. The cycling ability within the club has improved hugely over the last year so a challenge like this should be no bother to you. We want to increase the amount of people finishing the full thing this year so aim high!
Date: Saturday, Aug 23rd
Cost: €0 – each finisher of this cycle or the End of Year Swim will receive a little something.
- make sure your bike is in good working order
- bring food and drink with you
- arrive on time
- cycle safely and neatly in twos on the road
- don’t be a hero! just do what you are able to do and no more.
Training: to help get ready for this cycle attend the – Saturday Cycle: 8:00am from the pool.
Route: the route is flatter than last year but it will still be a good challenge. Leaving from Nenagh, we will head towards Roscrea, Birr, Borrisokane and back to Nenagh. At this point, our juniors and those senior cyclists that aren’t planning on doing the full thing can head for home if they want. Everyone is invited to cycle a little bit further – out to Garrykennedy (100km mark) for a food break, photos etc. We hope to be in Garrykennedy at 11.30am – so arrange a lift home from here if that suits. The rest of us will continue on towards Killaloe, Castleconnell, Lisnagry, Birdhill and back to Nenagh. We hope to keep the average pace around 18mph. If the bunch is very large then we will split it in two, with one group getting a 15 minute head start.
Please make it your business to be there!
If you can’t cycle but are available to drive a car behind the group then let Shane know.
