There was a record turn out of 26 swimmers for our End of Year Swim. It was great to see such large numbers taking on this swim challenge. This was the 4th year of the event and as usual there were two swim length options on the day. Most opted for the 2.5km route with 5 opting for the 3.5km route. The lake on the day was perfect for swimming. The temperature was nice and warm too, which made for a welcome change from previous years. As usual the straight line swim made for a tough mental battle – am I ever going to get there?! The sneaky extra 300m swimming after you reached the boats was another unwelcome suprise for most. But in the end, everyone reached Garrykennedy alive and well.
The club would like to thank everyone for supporting the event. We would also like to thank everyone who helped out on the day kayaking and transporting gear and we would like to thank Larkins pub. That is the end of our swims in the lake for this year, we hope to see everyone back in the lake in May 2014.
