The turn out was poor enough for the 4th race of our Dromineer Triathlon Series. Coming just one week after the 3rd race and still suffering from the post Kilkee drop off, the numbers were always likely to be low for this one. Even still, there were 12 eager club members on the starting line in search of PBs or just trying to get back into it after Kilkee.

Darren Dunne was eyeing up a new course record at race 4 but fell short in the end. He started off by putting in a course record swim time of 8:38. He also equalled the course record run time of 16:59. His down fall came on the bike where he finally came to the realisation that he is now too tall for Shane’s toy bike. Darren still produced the fastest time of the evening with a 56:53 to take the win. Eoin O’Donoghue continued his good form coming home in 2nd in a time of 1:03:12. Third place went to our regular guest from the Limerick Tri Club – Niall Collins who is just returning to training and racing action after a year dossing in college. No women finished the full course so we are awarding the women’s victory to Dan Hogan. Well done Dan!
Next Up: we are not sure yet whether there will be a 5th race. It depends on the level of interest – if we can get 20 to the start line then we will give it one last blast. If it is to take place then it will probably be around the middle of August. That gives you plenty of time to get over your post Kikee depression and get back training.
