Dromineer Triathlon: Race 3 Report

The 3rd Dromineer Triathlon series took place in glorious sunshine on Wednesday evening. Despite the good weather, the numbers were down on the previous 2 triathlons held in Dromineer. The ratio of men well outweighted the ladies. Surprisingly, there seemed to be an orderly queue for timing duties. A big thank you to Gill and Hugh for working tirelessly to ensure that times were recorded professionally and with great precision

Getting to the start proved to be a slow affair. Excuses such as too hot, killer swans, too many boats, too much weed in the water and can’t see the buoy etc were overcome and then everybody was ready for the start!

The swim was relatively uneventful except for a couple of bystanders on the pier who now think that Nenagh Tri Club are training for the next Olympics. PB’s should be the order of the day as the water was calm and lukewarm.

With a slight onshore breeze keeping everybody cool, conditions for the cycle were ideal. The only problems encountered seemed to be the rough road surface on the route back into Dromineer which would rattle the teeth out of your head.

The run uphill past the Whiskey Still was as torturous as ever but once heading for Kiltellagh and the psychological boost of reaching the turn around point, it seemed to be plain sailing for the run home.Darren killian ross

Results Race 3

Well done to all who competed and a special mention to the supporters who encouraged the competitors all the way. Despite the heat, the tea/coffee is always a welcome sight at the end and this is due to the tea making skills of Majella who never fails to come to these events without the refreshments in tow. It is much appreciated. Finally, a special mention to Una¬†O’ Doherty who made the beautiful Banana bread for the occasion. It was very tasty and a great way of getting one of the five a day. It beats eating a boring banana any day!
