Dromineer Duathlon: Race 2 Results

That was one tough day out there today. At times it felt like we were going nowhere as we battled into that wind. We just had to grit our teeth and get through it. It certainly made for a tough day but 19 of us took on the challenge and many of us managed to lower our times from the first race. As usual the handicaps were all over the place with people begging to be let off early and others swearing they were only going to take it handy, before tearing off down the road!

On handicap times the first 3 to cross the line were Matty Kennedy, Barry Creamer and Ross O’Meara. Matty will need to carry another stone on his back next time as his handicap was clearly wrong! Ross O’Meara did very well today, lowering his pb for the course by a considerable margin. His was probably the top performance of the day but it wasn’t enough to finish in the top 3 on scratch times. Two lads managed to break the hour mark today, with Shane Scully recording the fastest time of the day with a 55:37 and Keith Butler 3 minutes behind in 58:48. Eoin O’Donoghue claimed the last place on the scratch podium with a new pb of 1:01:47. The fastest women’s time was recorded by Gillian Mounsey in a fast time of 1:14:50. 2nd was Majella Moyles (who was just taking it handy!) in a time 1:21:23. Olivia Cahalan and Will Rymer were taking part in their very first club duathlon today so well done to both of them.

4 lads from our junior team turned up to take on the 15km time trial. The lads did well just to stay upright on what was a very blustery day. In the end, three of the lads crossed the finish together – Liam Hayes, Calvin O’Brien and Se├ín O’Neill in a time of 38:55. Not far behind was young Tom O’Meara who finished in 45 min. Well done lads. Those are some fast times for yere first attempt! We will test ye again on that same course next month to see how ye are progressing.

Thanks to Mike Browne for timing the event.
