Training Weekend 2

Next weekend sees the second of our three club training weekends. Following on the success from the first weekend the session outline will be a similar format. As with all club sessions and events the success of this weekend is all based on the interest and participation from club members so we would hope to have a good level of interest in all events. All sessions are free of charge and open to all levels of fitness and both members and non-members so spread the word to anyone who may be interested!!!

2k/4k run – 10k/20k cycle – 2k/4k run

 Saturday 26th March

Time trial 09:00:

First up will be a time trial. This will offer 2 routes of 10k and 25k.

Meeting at the Abbey court at 9am and a warm-up to Toomevara. The 10k route will be directly back into Nenagh while the 25k route will first go out as far as the roundabout in Moneygall and then back into town again.

Yoga / Stretching session 15:00

The club are delighted that Donal Quirke of North Tipp Yoga is offering his time to undertake a Stretching / Guided relaxation / Yoga Nidra session. This is a fundamental concept to improved performance and injury prevention so we are delighted to offer this session to club members.



Triathlon Racing Presentation (Paul Scully) 16:30

With the racing season almost upon us the initial session will be followed up by a brief presentation on race preparation and tactics. This will be an overview of tips and techniques in order to optimise performance and to improve racing times.


Sunday 27th March

Duathlon 10:00:

Day 2 will see the second of our duathlon series that will take place around the Nenagh Leisure Centre / Abbey court area. It will be run on the same course as the first duathlon and is an an out and back course along the Dublin road with a 1k and 2k turnaround point. The bike will be on the North Tipp sprint route and will have 5k and 10k turnaround points.

The recommended distances are:                   4k – 20k – 2k                         2k – 10k – 2k

Future training weekend plans 

This is the second or our three club training weekends for the season. The third weekend will take place in May and is our training weekend in Lahinch. More on this weekend at a later date!!

All the sessions during the training weekend are open to all, both members and non-members. We have attempted as much as possible to create routes that cater for all but if there are any suggestions then let a member of the committee know or email (
