Club Notes

Training Update: The training timetable has been updated > click to view.

Swimming: There will only be one official club swim session on the training timetable for the next 3 months. This will take place on Wednesday evenings in the UL pool (starting Jan 8th). Anyone that wants to go should meet-up in the Abbey Court Hotel car park at 6:15pm. We will car pool into Limerick each week to save on cost. The session will last from 7:00 – 8:15pm so you should be home for 9:00pm. Other than that it is up to yourself how much swimming you get in – there are also pools in Roscrea, Thurles and Birr that can be used whenever you have free time to spare. Try to get into a pool twice a week at least.

1 More Keeper Hill Trek: There will be another epic trek up to the top of Keeper Hill this Sunday, Jan 5th. A group will be leaving from Tescos at 6:30am to be on the summit for sunrise. Some of the group will be running some of it so you can bring your runners if you want. Mary D has been busy baking flapjacks for the expedition.

Nenagh CC: There’s a new page on our website with details about our cycling club > click to visit. If you have any friends that are interested in joining, you can direct them to that page (permanent link in the top menu bar too). The club gear options and prices are located on that page. Again, if you haven’t paid for the club gear yet then try to drop in the money whenever you can.

  • Rás Team: It’s official……the newly formed Nenagh CC will be looking to enter a team into the An Post Rás 2014. Shane Scully and Gary Scully have both confirmed their intentions of taking part in Ireland’s premier cycling event. They will be joined by 3 other cyclists (names to be revealed soon) and a team of helpers from the club. This is a big undertaking for our new cycling club and a lot of work will need to be done to make sure it happens.  The lads in the Rás will be organising a number of events to fundraise for the Rás over the next few months. We hope that people in the club could support these events as much as possible.
  • Junior Cycling: the next training day for our junior cyclists will be Saturday, Jan 18th @ 2:30pm in the CBS.

Saturday Cycle route: We are going to start back with route 1 this Saturday. It is a relatively flat route till the end with a few intervals thrown in. It might be a frosty start so everyone will start at 9:00am from the pool. Most of ye have done this route already so you know what is involved. Try and do a little bit better than the last time. Don’t worry, everyone will have gone backwards over Christmas too!!
