Club Notes

Club Training: We are now officially in our end of season break. All official club training sessions (bar cross country training) are now over until October. Enjoy the time off and we will see ye all again soon.

Join The Club: For all those looking to join the club, use the next 2 – 3 weeks to improve your fitness a little, then come and join us at our first training session when we return in October. This is the ideal time to start with the club as the pace will be slower.

We might be a triathlon club but that doesn’t mean that you have to take part in triathlons. We have a wide mix of adventure racers, duathletes and single sport competitors e.g. runners only, cycling only. If you can’t swim but you would still like to join the club then that is fine. Perhaps you can’t run due to a dodgy knee….then focusing on the non impact sports of cycling and swimming might suit best. We welcome all fitness enthusiasts – it doesn’t matter if you want to focus on 1 sport or 3!

XC Training: This will continue on Mondays at 6:15pm in the CBS. The first XC race is only 3 weeks away so make sure to attend this training session each week. Now that swimming and cycling is on a break you can divert your training attention to running for a while. Try and target a running race over the next 2 weeks.

Additional Run Session: Thursday at 6:15pm (for next few weeks). Nenagh CBS. If you are looking to race on the XC team then make it your business to attend. This will be a tough session.

Club AGM: There was a strong turn out for our AGM. As usual things were kept short and sweet. The chairman’s address looked at the many successes during the 2013 season. The treasurers report showed that the club are in a healthy financial position. The new committee for the 2014 season was also selected. Keith Butler stepped down from the committee after 6 years. Our club chairman, Andy McLoughlin, also stood down after two years. The club would like to thank both lads for their efforts over the years. 3 club members volunteered to go on the committee – Sinead Kennedy, Eoin Sheehan and Shane Scully. They will join the existing members – Majella Moyles, Cliodhna McGrath and Mary Donnellan – on the committee for 2014. There were no topics brought up in AOB so that concluded the AGM.

Rás na mBan: Sinnead Oakes did the club proud at the recent Rás na mBan 5 day bike race in Co. Clare. This is a gruelling event where even just finishing the event is a tough challenge. Sinnead was part of the Munster Development Team and finished the Rás in place 73rd  overall. Well done Sinnead!
