Cross Country Running: We have had a good response from people with regards to joining our XC team. There are 19 confirmed racers for the upcoming season. Other people have given indications that they might but it is a case of waiting to see if they turn up to training or not. Thanks to everyone for supporting so far, if your name is not on the list and it should be then let me know. Its now down to the hard work of getting ready – keep getting those miles in:
Training: This evening at 6:15 in the CBS. Try your best to make it especially if you haven’t been up before.
Women: Majella Moyles, Cliodhna McGrath, Úna Doherty, Sinnead Oakes, Margaret Hogan.
Men: Shane Scully, Gary Scully, Andy McLoughlin, Stephen Hegarty, Dan Hogan, Keith Butler, Eoin Woolley, Eoin Sheehan, James Sheary, Cathal Donovan, Glen Austin.
U/17: Ross O’Meara, Darren Dunne, Killian Cullagh.
Swimming: Preparations for this year’s End of Year Swim continue. Again, there will be open water swimming on Wednesday (7:00) and Sunday evenings (6:00). Someone will have to hold Shane’s hand the next time he gets in though as he has once again turned into the club’s biggest wuss (click to see why)! There is only one morning swim a week now and that is the Thursday morning swim (6:30).
Ironman Copenhagen: Eoin Sheehan took part in this Ironman yesterday. He was going very well on the swim and bike and was looking like he would set a new club record with a sub 11 hour time. However, he was unable to take on food during the run (rumours going round that his bulimia problems surfaced again!) and this led to him losing time on the run. Even with this run problem he still achieved his primary goal of finishing in under 12 hours. This just goes to show how well he was going for the vast majority of the race. Eoin will be sending on his race report soon enough so we very much look forward to reading that. The club would like to congratulate him on his fine achievment.
