Club Notes

Saturday Cycle: Peloton:  (from French, meaning little ball or platoon) is the main group of riders in a road bicycle race. On Saturday 29th June, 198 riders set out in a large peloton for the first stage of the Tour de France in Corsica. In Nenagh at roughly the same time, five club members set out in a much more modest peloton to cycle the by-roads and hills of North Tipperary. Army Hill came and went and Seanin’s approached from the Gortagarry side was enjoyed in between showers. Thoughts and chat about the endeavors of our club mates in Kilkee occupied the group and the challenge in particular of the open sea swim. At Dolla we were down to four and headed on for Coome with the day steadily improving. While no club records were set for speed, 79km was notched up in a little over three hours.  As Anita finished in Portoe, it meant that the remaining three cyclists all achieved podium positions! But no one was sure who could claim the yellow jersey…

Wednesday Training: The will be swim in Youghal Key at 6:30pm this Wednesday.

Running: Well done to Killian Cullagh who came third in the All-Ireland Stepel Chase in Tullamore at the weekend, and to Darren Dunne who came first at the Tailteanns. He will be competing in the Internationals in Dublin in the coming weeks.
