Club Notes

Join the Club: The evenings are getting longer and summer is fast approaching. With all that daylight and sunlight you really need to be outdoors. Triathlon is Ireland’s fastest growing outdoor sport. Take up a new challenge and try and complete a triathlon in 2013. You will learn all about the sport by joining our club. Pop along to our run session next Monday and try it out for yourself.

Text List: The club regularly update club members on training and racing activities via text. If you are not on this list already then send your name and number to Majella Moyles 0876618801.

Facebook: A good way to keep up to date with what is going on in the club is to visit our Facebook page. Plenty of extra information is given on that page that isn’t seen on this website. Visit our Facebook page and click on the Like button.

Run Training: It is time to get serious about run training. Swimming and cycling are going well, with plenty of people showing good form in both. Now it’s time to get your ass in gear for some tough running sessions, starting with a return of our:

Monday track session: Starting Monday, April 15th at 6:15pm – Shane Scully will coach this session. We are going to return to our usual Monday track session from last year. We regularly had 20+ people at this session so we expect to quickly build up to the same levels again. If you haven’t been running with us in some time then this is the ideal time to make your return. If you had to prioritise attendance at any one of our club training sessions next week then let this be it!

Friday April 12th: Keith will be there to call the session this evening.

Tuesday Cycling: There were strong turnouts at both the Limerick Summer League and the combined North Tipp Wheeler / Triathlon Club spins on Tuesday. A total of 30 cyclists were out and about on the roads of North Tipp. This is great to see and we hope it continues. Next Tuesday will follow the same format. So pick one or the other and enjoy your cycle.

Morning Swims: We expect to be back to our 6:30 start time next week. Check this website on Monday evening for final confirmation.

North Tipp Sprint info for club members

This race is a National Series event so we need to make sure it runs very smoothly. For this we need:

Marshalls: If you are a club member and you are racing the North Tipp. Sprint, the deal is that you provide someone to cover your marshalling position. There are 10 or so club members taking part in the race and most of ye have not yet nominated a person to take over your marshalling duty yet. Text Cliodhna 0872938847 with the name of  your volunteer. For everyone else in the club, try and make yourself available.

Food/Drinks etc: There are 70 members in the club. If everyone brings in one item of food e.g. sandwiches, cakes, bars, wraps, buns etc. then we will have plenty of post-race refreshments. Please leave everything up to the hall before 8:50am on the morning of the race. If you don’t do this then Majella Moyles will have to be cooking and baking night and day for the next week!

Race/Transition set-up: As usual we will need volunteers on Friday and Saturday morning to get the course ready. If you are available to help out then let a committee member know.

Hi-vis jackets: marshalls should bring their own hi-vis jackets on the day. If you don’t have one then we will supply one for you.

Club Night Out: As is tradition, there will be a club night out after the race. This will start off in Una Powell’s pub. People usually arrive at around 8 or 9. We hope to see ye all there afterwards.
