Club Notes

Sorry about the delay in getting our club notes up. Our club Internet nerd was out boozing at a staff party on the weekend and is only just recovering now. To be honest, he hasn’t a clue what happened over the weekend in terms of the club cycles. From the photos it looks like a decent crowd was there on the Saturday. The Sunday was a horrible enough oul day so numbers were a little less than usual. We hope everyone got a good workout. Club spin reports will be back next week!

Just 2 more weeks left!!

Not long to go now to our Christmas break. Make room for that Christmas pudding and Club Night Out drinks by getting to training a few times this week. We know it’s hard, what with the cold weather and all that but you just need to toughen up a little!!!

Junior Cycling: Just one training session this week = Tuesday turbo. The older juniors can join in with the senior cyclists once again next Saturday morning at 9:00am.

Wednesday Beginner Swim: there is a strong chance that Shane won’t be able to make it this Wednesday due to work commitments. That doesn’t mean you should not turn up. Head down to the pool, just in case, and if he doesn’t show then use the hour to practice the drills yereselves.

Weekend Racing

  • Birdhill Turkey Run: there was a decent turn out from the club at this event. There were some excellent results too with Mary Gavin coming 3rd in the ladies 10km and David Sheahan coming 4th in the men’s race (also 1st over 40). Eddie O’Meara also took part in the hilly 10km race. In the longer half marathon, we had a number of debutants and experienced athletes taking part. Well done to Mike and Emma Buckley, Martin Farrell and SinĂ©ad Lee for getting through this tough distance.
