Club Notes

Try not to lose the fitness over Christmas: we know there are lots of staff parties, club parties and binge eating coming up. That makes it all the more important that you don’t miss training sessions for lazy reasons e.g. its a bit cold outside. Fight the urge to give in. Your body will thank you for it in January when we start picking up the pace a little more!

Beginner swimmers: we are starting to see some good progress with our Wednesday evening beginner swimmers. Well done everyone!! It won’t be long before ye are all flying up and down the pool. The aim is to get everyone swimming more structured sets after Christmas. Keep practicing your technique until then. Go through each of the drills and perfect them. Three swims a week should be the target.

Sunday training: you have the option of going on our club cycle – we will once again be going around the lake, with a coffee stop at half way. Or you can take part in the Birdhill Turkey Run.

Saturday Cycles

Junior Cycle: at 2:30pm starting in the CBS. It will be cold so make sure to have plenty of layers on.

Senior Cycle: the next club spin will see us return to the Dolla – Rearcross – Newport – Birdhill route. There was carnage on Dolla hill the last time we did this route so we will be giving bigger head starts to the first groups from the start. We will all then meet up somewhere on the road to Newport (no need to stop to wait for the back bunch at the top). Beginners should try and make it to Dolla with us and if feeling adventurous try and climb some of the hill. Start time = 9:00am SHARP or 8:00am for the racing cyclists. It should be dry but cold for this one, so wrap up warm.
