Hello November. Time to kick the beer for the month and get out training!
Monday training: start off the week well by attending both training sessions tomorrow.
- Early morning swim – 7:00am SHARP. Remember: we are now swimming 4 mornings a week – Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri – try to add one more morning session to your weekly training plan and reap the swim benefits in the summer.
- Bertie’s Circuit Training – 7:00pm in the running complex.
Membership: have you paid up yet?
Triathlon Ireland Annual Awards: were on over the weekend. The only reason I mention it is because the Nenagh Triathlon Club were non existent at the awards. It’s a shame that a club with the amount of talent we have can’t feature at the end of year awards. Lets make 2015 the year that changes.
Are you struggling at training? There is a time when virtually all our beginners feel like this. The temptation to give up can be strong. You see yourself struggling at training sessions when others are barely breaking a sweat. The thing you need to remember is that at some stage everyone in this club was a beginner and they felt the exact same way as you feel now. The reason they seem so much more comfortable at training is that they stuck at it until things got easier. This will happen for you too if you just keep going.
- Try and put together a weekly training plan and stick to it. Consistency is key – that means you don’t go awol for a few weeks when something comes up. Each day, week and month you will get a little better.
- Pick a goal – what do you want from this training? maybe you just want to lose weight or maybe you want to finish a triathlon, Ironman, marathon, sportive or cycle race. Whatever it is, use that to keep focused.
Before you know it you will be flying it and delighted you stuck at it. Soon more new people will join the club and suddenly you become the one trying to encourage them to keep going. We see this time and time again in this club. The only sure fire way to fail is by quitting.
Nenagh CC Juniors: now that the clocks have changed we won’t be able to get out cycling on Thursday afternoons. That makes it all the more important that you attend the Tuesday Turbo sessions from 6:00 – 7:00pm in the running complex. There will also be cycling next Saturday, Nov 8th at 2:30pm from the CBS. Remember – our Saturday cycle takes place every fortnight = one week on, one week off.
Tuesday Turbo: the club bought 4 new turbos recently so if any of our senior cyclists want to come down and try one out at Tuesday’s turbo session (7:30 – 8:30) then you are more than welcome. If you find that you are only getting out cycling once a week on Saturdays then you need to prioritise getting yourself to this training session.
Weekend Racing: for the first time in ages I can’t think of one person in the club that raced this weekend. If you did – let me know!
