Club Notes

Thanks to everyone for supporting our club training sessions so far. Our first full week of training is over and nobody has died! Success!! The fun doesn’t stop after week 1 however. To make gains in an endurance sport like triathlon, cycling, swimming or running you have to keep your training streak going and going and going. Soon you will be in the rhythm of training and it will become part of your daily life. That is when you will start seeing the big gains.

Monday training: we are back in the running complex for Bertie’s circuit training class at 7:00pm.

Tuesday Turbo: complex will be open at 6:00pm for a junior turbo session, but seniors can also join this if they want. Main senior session starts at 7:30pm.

Fingers & Toes Crossed: that the swimming pool opens this coming Thursday!

Training Text List: if you want to add your name to our text list then send your name and mobile number to 0872605743. We sometimes send updates of events or training time changes to our members. At this time of year it is customary for us to ‘tidy up’ the text list. If people haven’t been seen at training for months or even all year then your name is removed so as to not be bugging you with info!

Membership Fees: it’s that time of year again when you have to pay the truly extortionate club membership fee of €25 for adults and €10 for juniors. Remember, if you join the triathlon club then that entitles you to join Nenagh CC for free too and vice versa. This fee entitles you to plenty of free training sessions, club races and a big discount on club gear.

Maeve Ryan is the tax collector for this one. She will be at circuit training every week and her phone number is 087-9602234. Please don’t have us chasing you up about this membership. Make it your business to sort out payment within the next few weeks. We are not asking for much and this money allows us to pay for all the club activities throughout the year, plus a nice little family holiday for Keith!!

To Join:

  1. fill out our club membership form for the 2015 season >> click here to download
  2. give the membership form and appropriate payment to Maeve Ryan
  3. take out either Triathlon Ireland insurance or Cycling Ireland insurance (not available for 2015 yet – we will notify you when, where and how this can be purchased soon). Remember you must have some sort of insurance when training with our club. This payment has nothing to do with us and is paid to the relevent sports governing body. Beginners can try out training sessions without having insurance but this can only be done a limited amount of times.

Weekend racing:

  • Nenagh.ie 10km – quite a few from the club took part in our local 10km race today. Mary Gavin did the club proud coming home in 2nd place in the women’s race. Also competing were Cliodhna McGrath (4th), Sinnead Oakes (5th), Eddie Tucker, Eddie O’Meara, JP O’Meara, Shane Connolly. I am sure there were many more members in the race so apologies if I missed your name!! Hopefully we will have some photo of the race up soon.
