Vote for Junior Triathlete of the Year

It’s not very often that one of our own gets the chance to win such a prestigious national award. Not since Keith Butler won the fastest fatman in Ireland title in 2009 have we been so honoured. Thanks to a brilliant year in the sport where Darren Dunne managed to win races and represent his country at the top level, he now has the chance of winning the junior triathlete of the year title at the upcoming 2014 Triathlon Ireland Awards.

If you visit the Triathlon Ireland website – http://www.triathlonireland.com you can register your vote for Darren. It only takes 2 minutes!

Training

Training has been going great so far this week. Attendances are good and everyone has come back fresh and raring to go. One or two of our juniors got taught a harsh lesson on Thursday about how tough it can be getting back on the bike after taking 6 weeks off! Don’t worry ye will be up to speed in no time!!

We could do with a few more new faces at training so for all those beginners out there – don’t be shy or nervous – just turn up and get stuck in.

Up Next……….. Saturday Cycles

  • Junior Cycling – begins again at 2:30am in the CBS. If you have a son or daughter and you want to get them into cycling then send them up to us on Saturday. We will have groups on the track, grass and road depending on your ability. Racing bikes are best on the road but mountain bikes are fine inside the CBS grounds.
  • Senior spin – our Saturday spin will take us in the direction of Roscrea – Borrisoleigh – Templederry – Dolla – Nenagh. Beginners should look to make it to Moneygall or Roscrea before turning back for home. This cycle will leave from the Abbey Court Hotel at 9:00am SHARP. Those who want a little bit extra can turn up at 8:00am at the hotel. Depending on the weather or how we feel, we might stop for a few mins in Templemore.

There will be a group cycling on Sunday morning too (a long one – typically 70 – 100 miles). More details to come on Saturday evening. This can be a lively enough cycle but everyone is welcome to join in with us. Combining the Saturday and Sunday cycles will really help you progress for next year.
