Training today: run on the track at 6:15pm.
- Nenagh 5km run series – run 3: takes place on Wednesday at 7:00pm at the Vocational School.
- Nenagh Summer League: continues on Thursday evening at 7:00pm.
Get Well Soon: another key member of our club has been put out of action for a few weeks. They are dropping like flies! Anita Egan came off her bike a few days ago and broke a collarbone so will be out of action for a few weeks. Anita is one of the coaches of our junior team so the club and all our Nenagh CC juniors wish her a speedy recovery. On the positive side – Keith and Anita will now surely be available for marshaling duty for the foreseeable future!!!!!
Nenagh Run Fest Cancelled: by now most of ye will have heard that Nenagh Run Fest is cancelled. Again, we apologise for the late notice on this one.
Nenagh CC Juniors: last week was a tough but exciting one for our juniors. There was an exciting finish to our latest race of the Junior Summer League. There was also a well attended training session on Saturday, where the older juniors became acquainted with the hill at Dolla. On Sunday all eyes were focused on Athenry, Co. Galway. A team of 10 made the trip to Athenry and performed very well. A full race report will be on this site later today. For now I can see from the official results that Odran Kelly O’Driscoll did exceptionally well in the U/12 race. He finished in 5th place overall. Conor Hough and Seán O’Neill also did very well in the U/16 race; both finished in the top 5 as well with Conor in 4th and Seán in 5th. Great stuff lads.
Training: just Thursday training on this week. Meet at 2:00pm at the Five Alley.
Racing: there might be a crowd heading to a race in Tralee next weekend. We will know for sure later this week.
- Tri Athlone – the latest race of Ireland’s National Series took place on Saturday in Athlone. There were 4 club members at TriAthlone taking on this sprint distance challenge. Darren Dunne was the highest finisher for the club, just missing out on a podium spot as he finished in 4th. This is a fine result for Darren in what was a competitive field. Eoin O’Donoghue continued racking up the NS points with a fine 31st place finish. Ronan O’Driscoll was next home finishing in 103rd. John Ryan finished in 479th and Sheila Gregan was 577th. These extra NS points should see us move up the club rankings.
- Nenagh CC – Athenry – a team of 4 seniors accompanied our junior team to the race in Athenry on Sunday. Con Kennedy, Kenneth Kennedy and Kevin Sherlock all took part in the A3 race. The did well but in the end failed to get into the points. All eyes were on Matty Kennedy as he made his racing debut in the A4 race. The first race can be a bit nerve wracking but it was no bother to Matty who finished safely in the bunch but just outside the points. Great stuff lads.
