Bike racing: 5 club members were in bike racing action this weekend. There were two races on this weekend:

  • Mick Lally Memorial Race in Co. Meath: Gary, Shane and Kevin Sherlock all took part in this race. The flat course meant the chances of a bunch sprint were high. In the end, the A4 race and the A3 race both ended in sprint finishes but no points were scored as our lads just can’t sprint fast enough.
  • Cycling Pursuits Cup, Broadford: Gary, Shane, Kenneth and Kevin Moyles made their way down to this race. The course for this was very hilly but we were in luck as Gary Scully managed to secure an excellent 2nd place overall. With 5 mile to go it looked as if Gary could claim the victory but his one man breakaway was reeled in just before the line. The other club members had less fortune as Shane punctured out early in the race and Kenneth and Kevin failed to get in the prizes in the final bunch sprint of a very competitive A4 race.

Next up, is Rás Luimní which takes place in Caherconlish on Sunday, March 10th. Try your best to be there.
