Last week was a big week for the club with Nenagh CC travelling around the country at our first ever An Post Rás. Sorry about the lack of updates over the last week. Things should be back to normal from today onwards. I am not sure what even happened with the club last week. I hope nobody burned the club down?!
Training this evening: running on the track at 6:15pm.
Dromineer Aquathon: this Wednesday – the open water tri season has begun so its time we started racing proper in the open water. The last aquathon didn’t really happen due to bad weather so we will re-run it again this coming Wednesday at 7:00pm. If you have a race coming up soon then make sure you get out with us to practice first.
Nenagh CC Junior Training: Thursday training resumes this week at 4:30pm at the CBS. There is no Saturday training – it takes place forthnightly so will be back on next week.
An Post Rás: this race finished on Sunday after 8 gruelling days averaging 100 miles a day. We are delighted to say that 3 of the 5 tea members managed to finish the race, crossing the finish line in Skerries yesterday. Gary Scully, Simon Ryan and Damian Roche all did the club proud. The Rás team would like to thank everyone that helped us accomplish this goal, especially Kevin Sherlock, Kenneth Kennedy, Peter Ryan and Seán McCormack. Hopefully the example set by the lads will inspire more of our members to target this race in the years to come.
Shane’s Rás Diary ended after 5 of the 8 stages. My race finished after I failed to finish within the time limit on day 5 (although I have a good excuse – two broken ribs, a broken triquetral bone and blood in the lungs). Gary is currently writing up his account of the final 3 days of the event and we will be publishing them all online over the next day or two.
Weekend Racing: was anybody racing at all?? I haven’t heard a peep from anyone? Are ye all still alive??
