Dromineer Duathlon is on this evening!
The weather is due to clear for this evening so don’t be worrying about it!!! We have our time keeper and photographer sorted and now we just need the rest of ye to take part. Whether you do the whole thing or just the run or just the cycle or you just want to come and have a look, we don’t mind. Try and be ready to go at 7:00pm sharp. That means you should be down there shortly after 6:30 to get ready and warm-up. We are getting closer to the start of the tri season so you need to start taking these club races a little bit more seriously.
Beginner run: the day for this has changed. It is now on Friday’s at 6:30pm from Tescos. This is suitable for those that are only just getting into running. The pace is slower and the distances that are run are manageable. Get yourself up to speed at this session and then try our Monday evening track session. Attend both runs each week and you will be running well in the summer.
Membership: the club have passed the 50 member mark already after just 6 months. These are 50 fully paid up members of Cycling Ireland. New memberships come in every day and our junior team membership is very high. There are still plenty of juniors and seniors that haven’t taken the time to sign up or hand back the registration forms to Gary. It would be great if ye could sort that this week.
New members: we hope to start a beginners only cycle in the next week or two. Full details will be placed on the website during the week. This will be an ideal opportunity for you to join in with our group for a leisurely spin without the pressure of trying to keep up to speed with others that have been training for years.
Junior Gear Donations: Thanks to Margaret Hogan for donating a lot of gear (and the lend of a bike!) to our juniors during the week. Again, if people have old bike clothes they are not using anymore then the club will gladly take them off your hands.
Rás funding: the amount and value of donations given by our club members is truly staggering. Thanks very much to everyone. It means a lot to us.
Safety warning: this is just a general warning to our junior and senior club members to take care out on the roads. There have been a couple of crashes on the bike recently so more care needs to be taken. Juniors – take it easy out there!!! Cycling is a dangerous sport so don’t take risks and always expect the unexpected!
