Club Notes

Wednesday Training: two training sessions for people to enjoy. For beginners we have a run at 6:30 from Tescos. There is also swimming as per usual in UL at 7:00pm – try to arrive a few minutes early to give Keith your money in the lobby.

Dromineer Duathlon: Race 3 – the 3rd race of the series will be our first mid-week race of the year. The race takes place on Wednesday March 3rd at 7:00pm. Our weekly swim evening will be changed on the new training calendar which starts in April. All we are asking for is an hour of your time – sure what else would you be doing?! Handicaps will be published closer to the event. The triathlon season is fast approaching so it is time to get in some race practice. With our new Lough Derg Sprint event to aim for this year, you should need no other encouragement!

Cycling Coaching: there is a cycling coaching course taking place in LIT Tipperary on Sat, April 5th from 9:00 – 5:00. A few of us are heading down for the day to do it. If interested, text your email address to 0863165642. The cost of the course is €40. The triathlon club hope to refund most of this cost after the coaching day.

Tri Gear: the tri season is upon on us; so it’s time once again to wear the club colors with pride and get out and race for the club. A new design and supplier have being organized and all thats left to do is order it… The sizes are realistic and material of very high quality same as Nenagh cycling team, the price is t.b.c but should be around €91. So if you want the gear get in touch with Kevin Sherlock to organize sizing. Gear will be ordered in the next two weeks

Nenagh CC Seniors – Bike Racing: Next week is the first classic race of 2014 – the Des Hanlon in Carlow. These are the sort of races we want our team to enter. You need to see how you fare against the best. There is no point cherry picking easy races around the country all the time as sooner or later you will be found out. That is not the sort of attitude we want our racing members to show. Don’t be scared of a little hardship and don’t be scared of taking a beating. Even if you take a beating, you will still have gotten further than everyone else that was too scared to show their faces on the start line. If you are too scared to turn up then we could arrange a race for you against our juniors on the weekend; they are mad keen to take a few scalps!
