Limerick Duathlon: Takes place this in St. Enda’s school in Limerick on Sunday, Feb 23rd. The format is a run, bike, run. These races are very good for building your race speed for the triathlon season ahead. The race costs €20 and starts at 10:30am. You must bring your Triathlon Ireland license with you to this race. >> More details
Wednesday Evening Swim: is in Limerick at 7:00pm. Lifts available from Nenagh for anyone that needs one. Text Shane o872605743.
Training update: the club will be exploring ways of improving the training time table over the next week. If you have any suggestions then let a committee member know. As always, if there are numbers willing and wanting to do something then we will do it.
- One change that will be coming soon is the finishing of circuit training for the year, to be replaced by our Monday evening track run in the CBS. The evenings are getting much brighter now so our Friday evening runs will soon be back on the track (as soon as it dries up!!!).
- Beginner cycle: we would like to get a proper beginner cycle going too if we could get a few people together for this each week.
- Nenagh CC cycling: once the clocks go back we will be heading to the Limerick road for Tuesday (Limerick Summer League) and hopefully Thursday cycling sessions (organised by Nenagh CC).
Nenagh Swimming Pool & North Tipp Sprint Update: Unfortunately it looks like there have been delays with the pool renovation. This means that the pool will probably be closed through April too and possibly into May (we will be back in the open water at that stage). As of today, we are not certain about whether our already delayed date for the North Tipp Sprint of May 10th will go ahead. We should know more later in the week.
Dromineer Duathlon Race 2: a date of March 8th has been set for this one. This race will be handicapped using the times from the 1st race. We hope to start the race a little earlier next time. This will be the last weekend club race as we will be moving the final two duathlons to the usual Wednesday mid week slot. We would like to see as many club members target this race as possible.
Full Committee & Events Meeting: Takes place this Saturday at 4:00pm in the CBS hall (after this week’s junior cycling training day). Our committee’s rarely have to meet up, but this Saturday is one of those times! We have a number of issues to sort out so if you can make it then that would be great. If not then that’s fine too. We will probably take up an hour of your time, but no doubt Keith will entertain ye all with all the gossip he has heard over the last while.
Saturday Cycle: will be back on this week. Most bike races take place on Sunday so you can take it for granted that Saturday cycles will still go ahead. Any lads that plan on racing on Sunday can take it easier in the first group, although we urge you to keep training hard on Saturday’s as it is still very early in the season (too early to start missing sessions).
All groups start at 9:00am. It is the Birr route this week. Beginners should try to make it with us as far as they can on the Dublin road and then turn back for home. The average pace will probably be a bit easier this week, with most of our cyclists having missed a lot of days cycling due to the recent storms and others having to race the next day.
