Big Weekend of Cycling

With the exciting news that the An Post Rás is to pass through Nenagh this year, our Rás lads are itching to push training even harder. Training weekends don’t come much harder than what we have planned for this weekend. There will not be 1 but 2 Winter League ‘Races’. These races will be long and tough and hilly and they will bring to an end our winter ‘racing’ prep league. Things will be back to normal the following week – we promise!!

Few issues to mention first:

** these ‘races’ are weather dependent. If it is freezing and wet or stormy the races will be cancelled. We will make a call on this the night before on our Facebook page >> www.facebook.com/nenaghtriathlonclub.

** as you already know – by races we actually mean ‘fast training spin’! Our ‘winter warrior league’ is purely tongue in cheek.

** if you are a Nenagh Triathlete that will be focusing on triathlons next year then you should focus on attending the triathlon training weekend the club have planned.

When: Saturday at 10:30

Start: Five Alley on the Limerick Road

Route: is a new one with a few new hills. We stay on the N7 for most of it. First we head straight out to Daly’s Cross, where we take a right for Montpelier. From there we turn right onto Birdhill and back to Nenagh. We go down the bypass and turn left out to the wilds of Portroe. We go the full way up Portroe and turn left at the bottom of the descent in Castletown. From there it is up over Coum and back to the Five Alley via Yellowbridge.

When: Sunday at 10:30

Start: Lisboney Industrial Estate, Nenagh (near the leisure centre)

Route: is similar to WW3 except that there is a small detour when we come back to Moneygall. We now turn left up Army Hill and right at Gortagarry. This takes us back to Toomevara and from then on the route is the same. We are thinking that it might be wise to keep the groups together for the ascent of Army Hill and Gortagarry. Once back in Toom you can do what you want.
